Cooking with. a Famous Chef

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Hello!
This is the most incredible experience that I have ever had. Yesterday for example, we were able to go and buy fruits and food at a local market. I had never even heard of or seen half of the food there. It was so cool!! After purchasing the foods we went to a really exotic and fancy restaurant in Beijing. The chef at the restaurant has won tons of awards and medals. He is a very big deal in China. He is even frequently on tv! Meeting him was awesome but to top the morning off we got a private cooking lesson with him! We made dumplings which were surprisingly easy to make. I think that the home made ravioli we make every year for christmas definitely helped!!

After making dumplings we helped slice chicken and watched one of the chefs flip hot spicy chicken in a pan! It was awesome. We were also dressed in chef outfits, aprons, and chef hats from the chef! He signed them and let us keep it all! What a morning I can't wait to see what is in store for us for the rest of the day!!!!

I thought it was interesting that you thought the dumplings were easy to make and some of the guys struggled with it. Anson said it really looked like a lot of work to him. I think you are right that the experience you have had making ravioli probably helped.

No one else mentioned that this very famous chef signed your chef hats and let you keep them as a remembrance. Neat. Think about it: most people would be content to eat in this famous restaurant. You got to cook with the chef. How wonderful. I love your photo. Your faces tell all.
